I guess because of the local language influence...most places in India have funny spellings/ names/literal translations or just pure local sarcasm on the hoardings/boards.
Here are some of the funny things I come across on the way to office everyday:
Behind more than one auto rickshaw :
A/C ((???!!!)
No Hand Signal
Name of a very serious looking consultant's office:
Aashiqui Consultants
Advertisement for a water-cum-fun park:
Sad aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa? Come to Wonderla... la la la..
(something of the sort!) Always makes me imagine a very fat southie with thick mush saying that aloud..!!
Finally.........
Macho Ladies Parlour ( !!!!!!!!!!!!)
GODHELP!!

Nothing endures but change
With no explanations whatsoever about the last post.. i shall continue with this post.
Have been quite lazy to write down most of the stuff lately. Dunno why...
maybe i am losing interest.. and hence the shamming in previous posts.
But I want to fill up my blog with as much of hapenings as i can ..so that when i read them years later..i find it interesting ..So lemme try once more:

But I want to fill up my blog with as much of hapenings as i can ..so that when i read them years later..i find it interesting ..So lemme try once more:
Last few weeks have been very differnt from the time i have come to Bangalore . Here are a few:
- A new name has been proposed for Bangalore.. Bengaluru.. which roughly translates to 'town of boiled beans'...????????!!!!!! Pretty dumb of the Kannada language writer group who suggested it.. and dumber for the Chief Minister to approve..!! I have a better name guys.."JamGalore"... very true to the nature of what condition it is in..and not difficult to pronounce for the phirangs who are visiting some IT organization every now and then..!What the freak is about the 'boiled beans' after centuries of one stupid incident??!! crazy heads!!
- Once again I am working with Vimal but its so differnt now to go with him to work and back. Although its a little weird to be around him 24X7 but its convenient. 24X7 is not always a good idea.. so lets see how this works. I dont think he is comfortable with me around. I dont know..its still like i am in his space somehow..!! Whatevaa..cant help right now!
- Am working with very different people in differnt timings.. BPO people and BPO culture is very different from what i was used to. ( I prefer the one i was used to...cant say much..time shall tell!)
- The kind of work i'll be doing will be quite differnt from what i am used
to. Lot of coordination with the US people...and hence it is called a Solutions Developement 'Coordinator'. ( solutions and development have no significance whatsoever!!) - Then, because it is new setup, there are no colleagues.. its just one particular colleague.. a brief about him: (btw, he too turned out to be very different from the colleagues i have had:
The day i joined, i was told a Simon Peter will be my counterpart in the team..and so i thought, it will be again a very tambhi-looking-south indian-accented-rubber-slipper chap..(btw, the rubber slipper happens to be the favorite footwear of the locals!! ..really sad some of these 'bengaluruns' and adjoining states people are!!) However, was pleasantly surprised to find a bespectacled chinky ( no PC terms such as 'north-eastern' will be used ..a chinky is a chinky...) with a long ponytail and goatee standing with hands
folded. Seemed to be of the quiet and well mannered species. However, my first impressions are never the last.. so although he is well mannered, he is far from the quiet species!! Which can be a good thing expecially when you dont have many people to talk to.. but this one..!! God help! Goes on and on and on about any topic you start...! So, depending on the level of my patience i have to think what topic i shud break into..! For example.. . i thought he might not be such a reading buff..and happend to ask him which book he read last.. and he started with JK Rowling.. and cleverly switched to movies ..( smart ass chinky!)... and i ended up listening to the story of all the four Harry Potter movies..( including the latest Goblet of Fire.. which btw i was planning to watch some time soon.. now am not so keen.. thanks to the yappy chinky)..and as if that wasnt all.. he also recapped the LOTR triology for me..!! waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :( !!!! I was almost about to collapse by the end of it..( there are no distractions like your phone ringing or something when u really want them!!) Anyway, but its nice to have a yappy but good natured guy around rather than have a cheeky and sleazy one or glum and broody one! On one such yappy trip he enlightened me about the Bible and i think he saw a flicker of interest on my face and the very next day got me a copy of The Holy Bible!! (earned all his points there to spread chiristianity and booked his place in heaven!..too smart i say..but nice.)
So those were pretty much the things that were the changes but unexpected changes, also a few miscellaneous ones like:
- i bought a flap nokia phone (6060).. .. its purely falls into the no-nonsense-yet-stylish category....am lovin it. I feel impotant everytime i take a call or make one... flipping it open and shutting it close.. enormously vain but anything with a feel-good factor is what i badly need.
- then, another highlight is that Smoking is quitting me....coz howsoever badly i am inclined to light up.. i feel quite nauseous after a few drags.. which is a little bizzare in its own way. good for me..i guess my brain is the same but my lungs are being rebellious..thank u lungs..and am sorry u had to put up with a lot of soot!
- and what else...hmmmm.. last but not the least...catching up with Cinderella man ....dont know if its a nice change or will lead to further stress... but i still feel life's no good without knowing what cinderella man is upto! wot say?
Till next time..

Which William to believe?
"Life is a tale told by an idiot full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." -William Shakespeare
I guess Shakepeare was in one of my moods when he wrote this!!
Its getting more and more chaotic day-by-day...
where Its = my life.
At the rate i am dumping employers, i might be blacklisted very soon.. and i can picturize my photo in all offices, under the sign...'Not Wanted'
Although, i completely agree with Mr. William Shakespeare..Another William guy is giving me a complex:
"There is no more miserable human being than one in whom nothing is habitual but indecision." - William James
HELP!!!

Yet another 'first day at work'..
And..with a twist of fate, am not going to work where i thought i would be.. instead was surprised with a work place nearer to the house and the one that has 'good market value'.
In fact, all the tests and interviews i gave, thinking it will a good timepass and i will finally get a chance to wear my 'formals' has borne overwhelmingly good responses from the employers..!(are they nuts?)
So i am again in two minds...God is having plenty of fun playing around with my life..! Hey Bhagwan I say!!
Its almost like first day at school... as sad or as lonely or maybe as intimidating. Have had so many 'first-day-at-school's and 'first-day-at-work's!!
And still nothing can prepare me for all the stares, sly jokes, questions, etc... That is why maybe of all the places, i have enjoyed joining NIIT the most.. i joined with a group of 5 girls, however managed to attract enough attention to spread the news till the Singapore ofc!! For all the wrong reasons though...and it was long after the joining that i got to know about the 'powerpuff girls' and the 'viva girls' thingy.. :) .
So the first day actually started with no work..not even going to the office for that matter.. first day and was postponed to what was supposed to be my second day.
The first day was more of waiting around in offices for 45 min to 1 hour for a 5 minute brief without any apology..!! Bloody snobs!! Then, as usual, running around for 'drawer keys' and 'configuring the workstation'. Had to call the so called 'helpdesk' 101 times..!!
result: comp set up by 5:45 pm and
sill no sign of the keys. (WOW... helping the world sitting on the roads, dont care about their own employees!! )%*)%&)%&$)@#!@$$!)
Place seems to be okay.. lots of women around... and not really very interesting. No moozik :(
(someone played 'Californication' for like 10 seconds..and then stopped.. i think it was a mistake!!) *sigh* I guess ppl generally not fond of music..! so no share ware happenin! SAD!!
For tea there are two pantry rooms on this floor and ppl stand in the pantry room itself to have tea.. i mean, how sad is that?? small sqaure room with a coffee/tea machine as a break from your workstation...how relaxing! And just forget about sutta breaks.. i will be stared to death...!! Already a lot of staring happening..which is not-so-happening! But no sutta is maybe a blessing in diguise or something like that! Coz that way i hardly get to smoke one ciggy a day.
the work which i am told i will be doing is more on the lines of something very complicated called 'copy paste'. So, really looking forward to that! It also includes drawing 'flow charts' (which the client calls 'swimlanes' for some weird reason) in a ppt slide. WOW.. am dying of excitement. Copy paste and drawing.. too much!
And there is a canteen which is could not get jazzier.. has quite a variety from 'momos' to 'boiled corn' and 'chana bhatura' etc....even fresh fruit juice. Canteen is on the 8th floor and I am on the 1st floor.. and thus people spend most of the time waiting for the lift..( lazy buggers).
Access cards everywhere.. even the printer is kept in the room which can be accessed only by authorized employees. And here is the worst part: 'formal dressing' from monday to thursday.. cheeeeeeeeeeeee!! :(( Am not so much of a 'trouser' person..!!
So there is a lot of jazz..but unjazzy ppl.
Not expecting too much. Its wokay da!
Till next time!
