OUCH!

I had been to the dentist,
Who got under my skeen…

Apart frm bad rhyming that’s also a very bad excuse to blog..but that’s all the only unusual incident that happened in the recent past. Becaaaause…it was my ‘first time’…(a dentist visit, I mean!)

Had a bad sharp pain in left lower jaw and ppl all around me were psyching me out that it could be ‘something serious’! To me, ‘something serious’ is always good news because it means….time off from WORK ! :- D
And with a lot of enthusiasm and hoping for something like a 'root canal'….or some big traumatic problem which would need leave frm the work for atleast a week, I decided to visit the dentist. ....just to know that it is nothing but a ‘wisdom’ tooth causing all the pain…and was I disappointed?
Anway, the doctor made a big hoo haa about it and wanted an x ray and prescribed all sorts of jazzy painkillers etc.
Next day, went in with the x ray (which had disappointed me even more, coz it looked like I had a perfect set of teeth! I was hoping the wisdom tooth to be really crooked and all rotten so that it can be extracted before it affects the rest of the jaw..and my life could be saved!)

I wanted to hear him say ‘ y’know its URGENT..i think u need a surgery ASAP!’ but instead this happened :

Doc: (looking at the x ray) ‘it’s a very common problem, and your tooth is fine but u might as well get it extracted…u know..it will be better…but NO hurry!’

And then, after some contemplation (which I think was a calculation of the odds of ‘how can I earn more money from a patient whose problem is as simple as a wisdom tooth emerging?')

Doc: But i think, it will need a surgery.
Me: (yoohoooo…2 days off frm ofc!)
Doc: But the surgery is a ….err…ahem….a ‘risky’ one’…
Me: (gulp..) okayyy…why?
Doc: (pointing to the xray with his pen..like pointing to a map or something)..see…this nerve runs very close to the tooth to be extracted…
Me: So?
Doc:…(matter of factly) So, after the surgery you might have a paralysis of the jaw for a couple of weeks or a couple of months!
Me: (what the fuckly) WHAT?
Doc: ..(smiling) don’t worry…I am just warning u, IN CASE ..u know…and it will only be the left side of the jaw.
Me: (SUPER…like the 'left' side of the jaw is not a part of your face!)
Me: (Not smiling and not wishing for a surgery any more) Is it really important?
Doc: No, but then …its better to get it done ..it WILL affect u in some way or the other in a few months time again!
Me: I will decide and let u know. By the way, how long will it take? The surgery, I mean?

Doc: (Looking at the x ray- Like he has to remove a brain tumor) Umm…its ‘complicated’
One hour or so…
Me: (not so kicked and hoping I can atleast still hope for a day or two off) Do I need rest after that?
Doc: Yes, 2 days shud be just fine
Me: (silently yoohoooing) When shud I come for the surgery ?
Doc: (Checking with PDA with a stylus)
Me: (rolling eyes off, ….how can ppl buy those things…till now I haven’t met a single ‘interesting person who carries a stylus!)
Doc: (smiling) Friday would be good. That way u can go to work on Monday
Me: (FUCK FUCK FUCK, feeling very doomed) Hmm.

ASSHOLE!

So, I have decided to bear with the wisdom tooth and NOT go in for a surgery, it has nothing in it for me…except a paralysed ‘left’ jaw’! HMPH!
