The TC Routine

The TC routine...
Wednesday evening was nice... went to gud'ol TC with gud'ol Neo..! (Recently Neo has been responsible for the good times i've had..!) Thanks dude!
This post is a dedicated to Neo-the-highvoltage.
So Neo.. here is my version of the TC visits we've had so faa...

Neo and me push off frm office eightish..reach arnd eight-somethingish! A couple of very 'unlike bouncers'looking bouncers welcome us ( stamp our wrists with an encircled T.C (the dot there does not make sense there..ATD .. analysts please note)..frisk neo's bag.. but cooly ignore my bag.. i am sure whatever he plans to secretly carry in his bag can be transferred to
mine..! basicaly a routine useless check!
Anyway, we enter... the pub is in the basement and the ground floor is for the elite 'firangs' who are already having their 'supper'!The pub is cool... not too big.. but nice. Me and Neo find a place to sit.. usually when we reach there is plenty of space so we have the priviledge to choose. In the background the DJ is playing slow rock numbers... he is also expecting the 'hard-rock'audience after 9:30. The waiters gets us a menu... we completely ignore it and place an order for beer pints! Then... we wait... neo for his friends ..and me.. generally..for something nice to happen! ppl start pouring in around 9 thirtish... this is the most interesting part.. Neo is all happy.. gets to see a more and more chicks.. wearing less and less clothes..! Please do not assume Neo to be a cheap -local..he is very sophiticated... he tries his best to be very discreet while checking out the chics..!but then as u know ..men are men.. ocassionally, his eyes do pop-out for a couple of seconds! thats all..( resh..chill)
Apparently, there seems to be a dress-code for babes in Tc.. can wear any garment.. but has to be revealing in either of the ways:

• lowwww neck.. cleavage showing..
• low waist- crack showing..
• transparent- u-know-what showing!!..
• makeup- prim and propaah... no wrinkles/blemishes showing!!

accessories:

• expensive smelling perfume
• expensive looking bag
• high heels- expensive looking again!
• a smoke dangling between the fingers (lights)

and when its all of the above.. our Neo cant helpbut let out a 'sigh'!!
Lemme tell u Delhi chics r very particular about dressing up! u might just find a girl 'all of the above' in a crowded but posh market place also.

And then there is me.. .. frayed jeans and kurta/tee- kohlapuri-chappals...dishevelled hair.. smudged kajal..! No where close to the dress-code babes!

Also... very intresting to note a dress code for most of the men too..well.. not men 'boys' u can say..

• low waist jeans..or rather.. 'below'-waist jeans..i guess, u must have got the idea!
• frayed tees-
• sling-bag-- across the shoulder- resting on the waist- or butt!
• floaters
  

accessories:

• sports watch
• soul patch
• a zombie-cum-disoriented look!
• a smoke dangling between the fingers! (not-so-lights)

Coming back to the routine thingy... me and Neo look quite bored with each other after talking about all there is to be talked abt.. which is not much when u work inthe same office... so we start to enjoy the music ( which, btw, is very Neo-types!) drinking and smoking..and jiving..( and coz it is still India..and however hard u try.. even in a pub.. i light a smoke and at once 10-20 pair of indian male-eyes look at me... then turn glassy with lust...( puke ..puke..puke!)
have learnt to ignoreit now ..first few couple of times, felt like poking the ciggarette right in those very lusty-glassy eyes!

The place fills up...! Showing gud pub ettiquttes Assy, Jai, and Bobby enter at a respectable time ( Jai and Bobby were missing for the first time, last wed. missed them!) Assy as usual...looking like dressed for an interview.. shirt-trousers ..formal shoes.. the worx!
we exchange hi's and sit down puposefully... but end up having conversation like these:

Jai/Assy- Hi.. wassup

me- ( leaning across.. trying to hear above all the din)- Whaaat?

Jai/Assy- i said.. how are u?

Me: oh... fine.. and u?

Jai/Assy- whaaat?

Me- i said..and u??

Jai/Assy- oh great ( thumbs up!) .. ( i thank god for the sign language!)

Jai/Assy- so.. there was this..............

i am not even trying to listen... involves too much of leaning and concentrating!! Still manage to exclamate and nod at the right time..!( but seriously... i wud definitely like to meet these ppl elsewhere if i want to know more abt them!)

The best part- me and neo- shout and sing with the music- neo sings more..coz he seems to know all the lyrics by heart.. he keeps on educating me abt the band and stuff..! thanks again! :)

Am 2 pints down..Jai/Assy offers another pint... i hesitantly say a muffled 'No'.. and Jai comes up with a very encouraging 'comeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn'..! and hands me another pint..! to avoid another 'whaat- huh-- oh' conversation .. i gulp some more beer..!

the place becomes to crowded to breathe.. air ..all thick with smoke... and DJ comes down to a level of playing 'that thing u do' just to make the crowd shout louder..!

endless vists to the loo and 4 pints down..I am quite swacked ... people are a blur.. Neo has to shout in my ear.. for a reply.. all he gets is a 'zonked look'.. its 12ish.. time to leave.. All this while...Neo manages to stay sober.. in fact..he IS sober..and how? beats me.. ! We say our good byes... i say good bye... holding on to Neo's sleeve...! Manage to walk(zig-zag) till Neo's bike.

Lemme tell u.. a ride on the bike while u are so zonked..only adds to the 'zonkenness'! In other words.. is enjoyable..! :)

Neo shouts every 5 minutes..'mar gayi kya?' ( btw, no translations as am not expecting any international audiences here!)...or ' u there??'..!!

Fianlly, am home... ! walking ((zig-zag) to my aptmnt.. hoping no one is home to welcome this 'dipsomaniac'!
Crux- a great weekly experience.. what is day like that follows the evening a separate long story..! someother time maybe!
